Be A Player Mode: NBA 2K11

I have started to play "Be A Player Mode" in NBA 2K11 and I have noticed that their are archetypes in sports games as well. In the beginning, I thought that it was weird that sports games can have arcetypes, but then eventually figured out that they have to go on a journey. It is heroes journey to achieve what everybody wants to achieve in the NBA, winning championships.

In "Be A Plaer Mode" you first start off by creating your own guy. I created a guy and called him Kobe Bryant Jr. You are then put in the NBAdraft and picked by a team. You then start off the bench and your minutes increase as you progress. As you improve, your team also improves and you get a higher chance of wininng a championship. After a few seasons pass  you hit your prime and that is when your journey really begins.

My character Kobe Bryant Jr. got drafted to the Los Angeles Lakers and was playing alongside my favorite player Kobe Bryant. There journey began when they new that they were in the playoffs and they new they had a chance to win a championship. "Be A Player Mode" I think is a heroes journey to win the championship with his team and being known as one of the best players in the world. Kobe Bryant Jr. eventually went on to win the championship with the Los Angeles Lakers and went from being rated 56 to 99. 99 is the highest you can go and only the best of the best can get that rating.

Being drafted to the NBA is a big thing because not everybody can be drafted to the NBA. Kobe Bryant Jr. eventually went on to win 8 championships and was the MVP all 8 times. Did you think that their could be archetypes in sports video games and if you did, what archetypes did you think that there are?

Paranormal

Recently, I have just watched Paranormal Activity, and it was interesting to see the types of archetypes in it. Their was a girl who gets possessed by a demon and every night something worse worse happens to them.

I think that it is a “Road if Trails” of folks trying to get this demon off of their hand and relieve them of the horrors. The main characters, Mika and Kate start to her noises in their house in did not bother doing anything about it. The nosies got more loud and they started to experience bad things. They got a video camera and hit record every night to see what actions took place. They got somebody who specializes in ghosts and they said that the feeling in the house was to strong to be a ghost and said that the demon does not want anybody but Mika and Kate in the house. The demon eventually go to powerful and possessed Kate. Kate could not come back to her regular self and was dragged down by the demon from the top floor to the basement. When Mika went to go look, Kate rose from the basement and attacked Mika. Mika died and the cops eventually came and put Kate down.

I think that it was interesting to see how a horror movie can  be related to mythology and how their are archetypes. I also thought that it was interesting, that this could happen in real life.

Do you think their are any other archetypes in the movie and would you rather kill yourself or be possessed by a demon?

Dragon Ball Z

My all time favorite anime series is Dragon Ball Z. I started to watch the show in about grade 4 and I thought it was quite unique to see how people can have special powers. Their was a group of protagonists called the Kai, and there duty was to protect the world and the people around them. One guy in particular was Goku. Everybody wanted to destroy him. But he came over obstacles and usually prevailed.

They had to go on a “Road of Trails” to get more powerful and beat their enemies who got more powerful. The Kai, had six guys who always saved the world from being destroyed. There was Goku as I mentioned before, Gohan, Vegeta, Tien, Yamcha and Piccolo. Vegeta before was one of the most dangerous villains out their. He fought Goku and took was taken to the limit. It came to one last Kamahma, a beam that came out of their palms, to finally beat Vegeta. Vegeta eventually came to his senses, and became a hero as well. But their was one thing that all of these Kai had in common, they were all Sayians. A Sayian possessed unbelievable power that was only unleashed when they had no more power left in a battle or was pushed to the limit. A Sayian could go from Sayian to Super Sayian six, which was the highest.

But for these guys to be heroes, there had to be the anti-protagonist. There was Frieza, Cell, Broly and Boo. All of these guys pushed to the Kai to the limits and beat most of them. But the leader of the Kai Goku, always found energy and surpassed them with vital beams or with will power and encouragement from his peers. But thee was one thing that all of these villians had in common, they could all transform just like he Kai could, but some could be more powerful and transform bigger.

But as we all no, no villain or villains ever come out the winner. The protagonist always find a way to victory.

This is one series I recommend watching. Although it is not on TV no more, I recommend going to go rent it or buying it. It is one anime series that you will enjoy watching.

Do you think that anime series have many archetypes?

Spartan or God?

One of my favorite games of all time is “God of War”. The first time I played this game was in 2010, and I have been hooked onto it ever since. Kratos, once the king of Sparta, has been sent on a journey to kill the God of War, Ares. If he does, then all of his nightmares that haunt him will be vanished and Kratos shall then become the new “God of War”.

Kratos is an anti-hero and has to go through the “Road of Trails” before his quest is complete. He has to battle gorgons, barbarians, and traps to complete his quest. But Kratos is not alone; the gods of Olympus guide him through his quest and are at his aid whenever he is in need. The gods give him special powers along his journey, so that his journey gets easier. But Kratos had a bigger challenge ahead of him, Pandora’s Box.

Pandora’s Box is a box that holds evil and power that no man can handle, but for Kratos to beat Ares he needs that box. The box is chained down to the last living Titan, Kronos, and Kratos has to get it off of him. He jumps onto his back and went through everything that came towards him, so that he could release Pandora’s Box.

As Kratos opened Pandora’s Box, he grew bigger and stronger and was ready to fight the “God of War”. Kratos stepped forth and killed the “God of War” and was then named the new “God of War” by all of Olympus and the gods. Now Kratos is the “God of War”, he can do anything he wants, whenever he wants, and he is also the king of Sparta.

I highly recommend playing this game, even if you are not into video games because this is the type of game that will get you hooked onto adventures and action games. There are two more sequels to this game and they get more intense and more violent.

Now do you think that Kratos is better off being the “God of War” or the “King of Sparta”?
